If the game remains tied at the end of the sudden-victory overtime period, the game will proceed to a shootout.
The shootout will be conducted as follows:
  • Teams will take alternating penalty shots.
  • The home team will choose whether they shoot first or last, and that order will remain the same for all rounds of the shootout.
  • The shootout will proceed one round at a time and will continue until one team scores and the opposing team does not score during their respective penalty shots.
  • The team that scores while the opposing team does not will be declared the winner.
  • If both teams score, another round of the shootout will be conducted.
Teams must use a different shooter in each round until all eligible players have taken a penalty shot.
The following players are not eligible to shoot:
  • The goaltender
  • The substitute goaltender
